What’s your favorite gunbarrel?

Part of the fun of a James Bond movie is the gunbarrel sequence. Dots move across the screen, the last one opening up to resemble the inside of a gunbarrel following James Bond…well, if you’re reading this blog, you know what we’re talking about.

Like other obsessive Bond fans, we’re curious to see how the gunbarrel will look in the new Bond film “Quantum of Solace.” But for the moment, it’s time for a trip down memory lane and look at the gunbarrels made to date. This YouTube video includes “Never Say Never Again” (which didn’t have a gunbarrel), but what the heck:

The Man From U.N.C.L.E. DVDs hit stores and Amazon.Com

The Man From U.N.C.L.E. went to DVD a year ago — but only if you bought them through Time-Life. The series is now available in stores and Amazon.Com.

The product isn’t perfect. Some episodes (The Giuoco Piano Affair, from the first season, for example) have an arrangement of title music from a different episode than they should. Overall, though, the picture qualitty is fine and all 105 episodes are included and, from what we can tell, complete. By contrast the Season 2 set of Hawaii Five-O is missing an episode (an installment never shown after its first network run) and a Season 3 episode was edited (apparently relating to music rights related to a song performed by guest star Nancy Wilson).

Here’s how to order the MFU set on Amazon.com:

We hear it’s now stocked at chains such as Best Buy. Open Channel D.
