LA Times says Daniel Craig is ready for Bond 23

The Los Angeles Times, in its Hero Complex blog, says Daniel Craig still wants another turn as James Bond — if the business people at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and possible new partners can get it ready. The quote supplied by the LAT’s Geoff Boucher:

“It’s out of my hands,” the British actor said during a break from shooting (Cowboys and Aliens). “I’m ready and willing, and if I get the call, I’ll be there.”
“You probably know more than I do,” Craig said. “It is what it is. Unless MGM can sort themselves out, we can’t make a movie. It’s hard to talk about things that aren’t happening. There will be more to say when things are happening. I’m really keen to get going, it’s as simple as that. And I’m hoping that, in a while, we will.”

In the blog post, WHICH YOU CAN READ BY CLICKING HERE, there are no new details about how Spyglass Entertainment may take control of MGM, as THE WALL STREET JOURNAL REPORTED EARLIER THIS WEEK. MGM has put out only one movie so far this year, has $3.7 billion in debt and has request, and received, multiple extensions on its debt payments.

While it’s nice to know Craig says he jazzed up, his comments reflect he is but a hired hand, albeit a well-paid one. Bond 23 remains in limbo until MGM’s fate gets decided because MGM controls half of the 007 franchise.
