Early on Dec. 5, the news came out that Helen McCrory will be playing a U.K. member of parliament in Skyfall. The news was distributed on the movie’s Facebook page and on its Twitter feed. The development also ended a parlor game for 007 fans.
It was announced Nov. 7 that McCrory would be in the movie, but there was no information about her character. Fans on message boards have speculated whether the actress might be the new Miss Moneypenny or if she might play a younger version of Judi Dench’s M in a flashback sequence. The latter made sense because the movie’s press release said “Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her.”
So much for that. No official word if there will be a Miss Moneypenny. The U.K. Daily Mail said Nov. 4 that Naomie Harris’s agent Eve will end up being Moneypenny.
