The most spoiler adverse shouldn’t read. Then again, the most spoiler adverse shouldn’t be watching trailers to begin with.
SPECTRE’s teaser trailer debuted on March 27. Viewers got glimpses of Mr. White (Jesper Christensen) from Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace and a ring with a SPECTRE logo (looking very close to the SPECTRE logo of early 007 films).
Mr. White clearly has seen better days and is talking about death. This appears to be a hint that SPECTRE will try to connect the dots of the 007 films since the series was rebooted with Casino Royale.
Viewers also were told (via Naomie Harris’ Moneypenny) that James Bond (Daniel Craig) had a secret he couldn’t reveal. There’s also a brief look at a gathering that looks like an updated version of the SPECTRE board meeting in 1965’s Thunderball. The lead villain is shrouded in shadow, not unlike how Ernst’s Stavro Blofeld’s face couldn’t be seen in either From Russia With Love or Thunderball.
The main impression from the teaser trailer was the photography by Hoyte van Hoytema, who was cinematographer of Christopher Nolan’s 2014 film Interstellar. Many fans didn’t like it when Skyfall’s Roger Deakins said he wouldn’t return. Van Hoytema’s work as seen in the short trailer indicates there wasn’t anything to worry about. Meanwhile, the trailer had an eerie feel punctuated by the James Bond Theme at the end.
