Early voting results in Mister 8’s May Madness

An update on fellow C.O.B.R.A. Mister 8’s May Madness faceoff between fictional spies.

Voting results as of about 6 p.m., New York Time, May 17:

GAME ONE: James Bond 27 votes, Tara Chace 22. (Voting lasts until about 11 a.m., May 20).

GAME TWO: Cate Archer 14 votes, Jason Bourne 13.

GAME THREE: John Steel and Emma Peel, 25 votes, OSS-117, 1.

GAME FOUR: Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin, 23 votes, Maxwell Smart and Agent 99, 20.

GAME FIVE: Kelly Robinson and Alexander Scott, 6 votes, Nick Fury, 3.

There are still three first-round matchups to come: John Drake vs. George Smiley, starting May 18; Jack Bauer vs. Jim Phelps and IMF, starting May 19; and Jack Ryan vs. Harry Palmer, starting May 20.

Mister 8’s May Madness, or spies face off


Our fellow C.O.B.R.A., Mister 8, has an amusing takeoff on college basketball’s March madness. It’s May Madness, where various fictional spies face off.

There are brackets, similar to those filled out by people who participate in office pools during the basketball tournaments. James Bond has the 1 seed and he’s paired off against Tara Chace. Jason Bourne has the 2 seed, and he’s facing Cate Archer. Other notables include Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin at No. 4 vs. Maxwell Smart at No. 14.
